As a commercial driver using an electronic logging device in North America, you must know how to provide these documents during a roadside inspection.
There are three required ELD documents available on your Navistream tablet:
- The ELD User Manual
- The Data Transfer Instructions
- The Malfunction and Diagnostic Instructions
These documents explain how to operate the ELD, how to transfer logs to an inspector, and what to do if the ELD malfunctions. To access these documents on the Navistream tablet:
- First, locate the three parallel bars in the top-right corner of the screen.
- Tap the menu button, then select Help. You will see a tile for each required document.
Tap any tile to open and view that document. During a roadside inspection, an enforcement officer may ask you to show where these documents are located. You should be familiar with how to access them quickly on your tablet. Drivers must also carry enough blank daily logs to record duty status information in the event of an ELD malfunction.
